Soft touch balls for schools and sports clubs

What characterizes a soft touch ball?

All balls that are made of soft foam are summarized as soft touch balls. They are therefore particularly light and pleasantly soft. Thanks to its composition, the ball is particularly geared towards the needs of children, beginners and school sports, who do not have to be afraid of injuries or painful hits and can therefore play or throw without inhibitions. In addition, soft touch balls have slower flight characteristics, so players have more time to perform movements properly. This is how soft touch balls support fine motor skills and coordination.

Of what kind of material are soft touch balls made of?

Soft touch balls are all made entirely of soft foam, but there are a few different variants. A basic distinction is made between open cell foam balls and closed cell foam balls, as well as coated foam balls. Open cell foam balls consist of foam with an open structured surface, comparable to a sponge. They are characterized by a special feel, but are prone to damage. Closed cell foam balls consist of PU foam with a smooth, closed surface. They are therefore more resistant and are easy to clean. Balls with coated foam usually combine both materials: the inside is made of open cell foam, which is covered by a thin surface made of PU material.

What can I use soft touch balls for?

Soft touch balls are not only used for ball games in school sports, e.g. Zombie ball or dodgeball are used, but are also excellent as method balls for beginners in various ball sports in the club. For example, a soft touch ball helps children learn fearlessly how to throw and catch properly in handball or American football or rugby. In volleyball, the soft touch balls are used to practice the correct technique in excavating or serving, as they make contact with the ball less uncomfortable. In addition, the slower flight characteristics are used in the various ball sports, which give beginners a longer time to react. The soft touch balls are also easier to grip in basketball or handball. Soft touch balls are also popular with children in the water: there are no injuries when hit, and the foam in the ball can soak up water, turning it into a water bomb. In movement therapy, soft and colorful soft touch balls are popular for learning to throw and catch, because they train coordination, fine motor skills and perception without hurting.
