In 1878 the Drohnn ball factory was founded as a leather factory by Theodor Drohnn. The company has been producing sports balls since the 19th century. The company was the first and only company in the world to manufacture leather sports balls.

The company was taken over between 1910 and 1920 by the son of the company's founder, Paul Drohnn. In 1927 a patent was granted for a special soccer ball with a reinforcing cover that was glued onto the gas bubble in several layers. A year later, a patent was granted for inflatable play balls with a hollow plug on the inside.

In 1935 the company received the patent for the closure of ball covers. Paul and Helene Drohnn sold the existing patents to the USA until 1967. Today most of the Drohnn balls have a latex bladder and are made of high-quality nappa leather. The balls, which are mainly used for fistball and bounce ball, have a high-quality and durable seam and a very good bounce. To this day, the company offers top quality sports balls.
