Soccer Courts: Fast-paced games in a safe environment

What are the components of a soccer court?

A soccer court basically consists of a playing field with two goals, which is delimited all around by a band system with an integrated ball catch fence or protective net. The playing field can be both the floor at the respective location, but also artificial turf or a plastic floor. Filled with sand, a soccer court can even become a playing field for beach soccer fans. In some cases, the soccer court is also equipped with a ceiling net construction. The playing field size of a soccer court is variable and can be adapted to the local conditions so that mini-playing fields can also be created. In most cases, however, the playing fields are at most the size of a small playing field (40 x 20 m). Soccer courts for panna soccer are octagonal and often have a diameter of about 5 meters. Football courts can also be upgraded for other sports: basketball hoops can be mounted on the goals and even equipping with posts for a volleyball court is possible.

Differences between football outside and football in the soccer court

Soccer played in a soccer court differs from regular soccer in some rules. In a variant that is often referred to as cageball, for example, there is no ball out, instead the gang is involved in the game and there are also no offsets or goals. Free kicks must always be taken directly. Due to the size of the field, there are also fewer players on the field, usually with three field players and a goalkeeper. However, eight other players can take part in the action via flying changes. Beach soccer can also be played in a soccer court filled with sand. Beach soccer is played with four outfield players and a goalkeeper. The playing time is shorter here, and the goalkeeper may also pick up the ball by hand if it has been played back by a teammate of his own team. Standard situations (e.g. free kick) are subject to a five-second rule. Of course, street soccer can also be played in a soccer court without special flooring. There are rules in street soccer too, if not very many. The most important concern the number of players (officially three outfield players plus goalkeeper) and fair play. Anyone who kicks a soccer court in their free time often plays according to their own rules, which are determined on site in the group. In panna soccer, which is played in an octagonal arena, two field players compete against each other in two-minute duels. You try to score as many goals as possible during this time. If a player achieves a so-called panna knockout by making a controlled tunnel (panna), he wins the game, regardless of other game status.

For whom / what is a soccer court suitable?

A soccer court makes sense wherever soccer is played and either there is not much space or the area should be protected from flying balls. Stationary, permanently installed soccer courts are ideal for schoolyards, kindergartens and clubs, but a soccer court is always well received on playgrounds in residential areas and leisure facilities. Mobile soccer courts are also ideal for events in public places or for all locations where the court is not used permanently.
