Robust & high-quality shuttlecocks

Badminton is a recreational sport and a competitive sport. Badminton is played with mostly two players, as well as rackets and a shuttlecock or badminton. Badminton can also be played in doubles (four players) or mixed and the game is played according to official rules. There are no official rules in badminton and the only rule is to play the shuttlecock back and forth as often as possible (without the ball falling on the ground). In training or competition, the players want to play the shuttlecock over the net as trickily as possible so that the opposing team or the opposing player can no longer play the shuttlecock back and the shuttlecock falls to the ground. There are other sports that contain elements from badminton and are extremely popular with young and old. These include Speedminton and crossminton.

What rules apply in badminton?

Official rules apply in badminton and the game is played according to the Ralley Point counting method. This means that players can score points both on their own serve and on the opponent's serve. To win a set, the badminton player must first reach 21 points. To win the entire game you need two sets of wins. A point is won if the shuttlecock lands on the ground of the opposing field or the opponent plays the shuttlecock out.

What kind of shuttlecocks are there?

Shuttlecocks can be made of natural material and plastic, both of which are provided with a cork. A natural shuttlecock consists of 16 feathers from geese or duck feathers, which are inserted into a base of natural cork. These shuttlecocks are very sensitive to damage to the individual feathers and even minor damage to the goose feathers can lead to changes in the flight properties of the ball. That is the reason why the consumption of natural shuttlecocks is very high. The shuttlecocks made of plastic (nylon) are made of a synthetic material and the base is also made of natural cork or synthetic cork. The nylon balls are made in two colours (yellow and white). The advantages of plastic balls compared to natural spring balls are that they are more resistant and durable and mostly associated with a low price. With natural shuttlecocks, however, a faster and more dynamic game is possible.

How do I choose the right shuttlecock?

In your free time, during school sports and with groups of young people you should use plastic shuttlecocks, i.e. made from nylon. They used most of the time because they are more resilient and have a longer life span. During matches the use of shuttlecocks made from geese feathers is mandatory. Shuttlecocks are not only differentiated according to their material, but also how fast the balls are. There is quick, medium and slow speed. The respective speed can be recognized by a colour marking or a colour ring on the game balls. The weight also varies due to the speed of the game ball. "Red" stands for fast balls, "blue" for medium speed and "green" for slow shuttlecocks. Logically, beginners should use slow balls. Because the rule is: the better a player is, the faster the balls can be. The temperature in the sports hall is also crucial. If it is rather warm in the hall, balls are used at medium or slow speed. In large halls with a cold hall temperature, faster shuttlecocks are used.

How do I store a shuttlecock?

When storing shuttlecocks made of plastic, you do not have to do anything special. These balls are easier to clean than natural shuttlecocks and there is less risk of drying out. In the case of natural spring balls, more must be taken into account with regard to storage and care. These shuttlecocks should be stored in a humid and cooler environment. Because dry rooms, as well as the storage of the shuttlecocks near a heater, let the springs and the cork dry out very quickly. Logically, dehydration should be avoided as much as possible. If you take this into account, good stability is maintained with every ball.
