The Outdoorgym Kahlenberg was opened in 2020. In addition to the OMNIGYM outdoor strength training machines, it also features a calisthenics setup and a Sportbox that provides smaller training equipment such as ropes, kettlebells, and mats via an app.
Sportpark Styrum represents a unique concept. A former football pitch was transformed into a modern sports facility. The city has appointed a dedicated on-site contact person to manage the offerings. Schools and clubs use the facility regularly, and courses such as beach volleyball are also offered. Children's birthday parties and holiday camps complete the range of activities.

The Outdoorgym Wenderfeld is the newest facility and was opened in 2024. In addition to a stadium with a sports field used by local clubs, the Outdoorgym is permanently available to the public. The city once again chose OMNIGYM outdoor strength training machines due to their high functionality, easy weight adjustment, and minimal maintenance costs.

Background & Objectives
With the new outdoor fitness facilities, the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr aims to create low-threshold and easily accessible opportunities for physical activity for all citizens. The facilities are intentionally located in central areas and, with their versatile equipment and complementary offerings, provide ideal training opportunities. Their integration into existing sports structures, such as schools and clubs, enhances both usage and acceptance. At the same time, the city and local stakeholders ensure the sustainable maintenance and upkeep of the facilities.

The OMNIGYM equipment impresses with its functionality and ease of use. In particular, the intuitive weight adjustment allows users of all fitness levels to quickly and individually set up the machines. Additionally, each piece of equipment features a QR code that links to training videos, demonstrating proper use. Visually, the machines integrate well into their surroundings. They are also extremely robust—vandalism has not been an issue to date. Maintenance costs are minimal, which has further convinced us as the local sports administration.
