Select® Handball PHANTOM DB

The Select® PHANTOM DB is a robust training handball, specially designed for resin-free game operations. The durable HPU-800 outer material with a textured surface ensures very good grip - without the use of resin. The 2mm thick lamination guarantees a pleasantly soft ball contact, while the dual-bonded construction provides additional stability and shape retention. Thanks to the high-quality SR bladder, the ball convinces with optimal balance and consistent bouncing behavior. The size and weight comply with the requirements for resin-free playing, making the ball ideal for training in schools and clubs.

Was unterscheidet harzfreie Bälle von den Handbällen, die mit Harz gespielt werden können?

Die IHF hat in den Ballregularien neu aufgesetzt, wie groß die jeweiligen Bälle mit und ohne Harz sein sollen. Dabei sind die Bälle ohne Harz in allen Größen deutlich kleiner und etwas leichter. Dadurch kann der Ball besser geworfen und gefangen werden, auch ohne die Verwendung von Harz. Zusätzlich bietet die Oberfläche der harzfreien Bälle besondere Eigenschaften, die das Greifen vereinfachen sollen. Die Oberfläche kann beispielsweise wasserabsorbierend oder mit stärkeren, griffigeren Konturrillen versehen sein. Zusätzlich können manche Bälle mit geringerem Luftdruck gespielt werden, wodurch ein tieferes Einsinken der Fingerspitzen möglich ist, ohne dass das Prellverhalten negativ beeinflusst wird. Die besondere Beschaffenheit der Oberfläche bedeutet allerdings auch, dass eine Nutzung von Harz den Ball erheblich schädigen würde.

Sollen harzfreie Bälle das Harz komplett ersetzen?

Nein. Es geht eher darum, eine Alternative zu bieten, wenn in der jeweiligen Region oder Sporthalle nicht geharzt werden darf. Immer mehr Sporthallen verbieten aufgrund der starken Verunreinigung die Verwendung von Handballharz. Zudem einigen sich bereits die ersten Landesverbände darauf, komplett auf den Einsatz von Harz zu verzichten. Das bedeutet, in manchen Amateurligen wird ausschließlich harzfreies Handball gespielt, auch wenn die Sporthallen teilweise Harz zulassen würden.

Wer entscheidet, ob das Handball spielen mit Harz gestattet ist oder nicht?

Die IHF gibt im ersten Schritt nur vor, dass beide Arten von Handbällen im Spielbetrieb zulässig sind, wenn sie hinsichtlich Größe und Gewicht in den vorgegebenen Normen sind. Die endgültige Entscheidung über die Nutzung von Harz obliegt somit nicht der IHF, sondern vielmehr den Hallenbetreibern. Selbst wenn die IHF die Nutzung von Harz erlaubt, kann eine Sporthalle das Harzen aufgrund von Reinigungs- und Instandhaltungsanforderungen verbieten. So sind die Gegebenheiten und Vorgaben von Ort zu Ort unterschiedlich. Die ersten Landesverbände schließen daher bereits die Verwendung von Harz komplett aus, um die Bedingungen in den Ligen anzugleichen.

Was bedeutet Dual Bonded?

DB ist die Abkürzung für Dual Bonded. Das ist eine Technologie zur Herstellung von Fußbällen. Die Einzelteile der Ballhülle, die Panels, werden zuerst manuell zusammengenäht und im Anschlussmit einem Spezialkleber versiegelt (Bonding). Dadurch verringert sich die Wasseraufnahme der Nähte, der Ball ist gleichmäßiger für ein angenehmes Ballgefühl, robuster und bleibt länger rund.
