According to the regulations of the German Swimming Federation (DSV), the water polo ball used in competitions must have the following characteristics. It must be round in shape and have an air chamber with a self-sealing valve. Additionally, the water polo ball must be waterproof and free of external seams. The weight must be between 400 and 450 g. The circumference and air pressure depend on the teams. Water polo balls for men have a circumference of 68 to 71 cm and an air pressure of 90 - 97 kPa. Water polo balls for matches in the U13 and U11 age groups, for women, and for masters must have a circumference of 65 to 67 cm. In these cases, the air pressure must be 83-90 kPa.
