According to the regulations of the German Swimming Association (DSV), the water ball must have the following characteristics for competitions. It must have a round shape and an air chamber with a self-closing valve. Additionally, the water ball must be waterproof and have no external seams. The weight must be between 400 and 450 g. The circumference and air pressure depend on the teams. Water balls for men have a circumference of 68 to 71 cm and an air pressure of 90 - 97 kPa. Water balls for U 13 and U 11 age categories, women, and masters games must have a circumference of 65 to 67 cm. The air pressure must be between 83-90 kPa in these cases.
