Product information

Molten® Handball HXC3500-BW

The classic entry-level handball C7 scores with its innovative, non-slip TPU surface. Throwing and catching can be optimally learned thanks to the soft, grippy surface. In particular, the technique of one-handed catching is often methodically learned with this ball. The seamless surface with glued panels, the thicker foam layer under the outer material, and the reduced air pressure ensure excellent and consistent playing and bouncing properties. The ball is played without the use of resin and is also popular in women's handball.

Features

  • Material: Synthetic leather (TPU)
  • Construction: Bonded panels
  • Air pressure: 0.1 to max. 0.2 bar
  • Without resin

Tip!

The C7 should be played with reduced air pressure (0.1 - 0.2 bar) to ensure maximum grip and optimal game characteristics. The ball bounces very well even at low air pressure.

Note: As the official supplier of the IHF, molten manufactures all handballs according to IHF ball regulations regarding size & weight. An official IHF certification exists only for appropriately marked models.

What distinguishes resin-free balls from handballs that can be played with resin?

The IHF has recently revised the ball regulations regarding the size of balls with and without resin. Resin-free balls are noticeably smaller and slightly lighter in all sizes. This makes the ball easier to throw and catch, even without the use of resin. Additionally, the surface of resin-free balls has special properties designed to simplify gripping. For example, the surface may be water-absorbent or have stronger, grippier contour grooves. Some balls can also be played with lower air pressure, allowing the fingertips to sink in deeper without negatively affecting the bouncing behaviour. However, the special surface structure also means that using resin would significantly damage the ball.

Who decides whether playing handball with resin is permitted or not?

The IHF only stipulates initially that both types of handballs are allowed in play as long as they meet the specified size and weight standards. The final decision on the use of resin lies not with the IHF but rather with the venue operators. Even if the IHF permits the use of resin, a sports hall can prohibit it due to cleaning and maintenance requirements. Conditions and regulations therefore vary from place to place. Some regional associations have already completely banned the use of resin to standardise conditions across leagues.
