Stone throwing is part of lawn strength sports and requires mainly explosive strength. The throwing stone is usually made of cast iron and has the shape of a cuboid. After a run-up, the athlete pushes the stone in front of a starting bar with one arm as far as possible. Throwing stones have a weight between 3 kg and 15 kg. Men throw a stone weighing 15 kg, while women throw a weight of 7.5 kg. Juniors and seniors throw with correspondingly lighter throwing stones.
