Javelin throw

A spear consists of three parts: shaft, head, and cord grip, for which there are precise regulations by the IAAF and the DLV. The general condition, weight and length, diameter at multiple points (so-called 90%, 80%, 40% areas), the permissible width of the cord grip, as well as the spear's center of gravity are tested. In competition, men throw a spear weighing 800g, while women throw a 600g spear. Reduced weights of 700g for male youth and 500g for female youth apply.
