Obstacle race: a wet pleasure

What is obstacle course?

The men and women run an obstacle course of 3000 meters. During the race, four hurdles and one hurdle with a subsequent moat must be overcome per stadium round. The obstacle hurdles are wider than those for the hurdle sprint; the IAAF specifies a minimum width of 3.94 m so that several runners can overcome the obstacle side by side. The obstacle hurdle at the moat, on the other hand, has a fixed width of 3.66m and is therefore just as wide as the moat. The bar of the obstacles is also wider than the hurdles, it has a cross section of 12.7x12.7 cm. The obstacles are on T-shaped feet that prevent tipping over when touched by runners. The height of the obstacles corresponds to that of a hurdle in the 400m hurdles: 91.4 cm for men and 76.2 cm for women. The moat is 70 cm deep directly behind the obstacle and flattens after 30 cm to the level of the running track.
